icon_biggrin.gif I really, really, really want to make a closed book cake this weekend and have searched the pictures on cc and am very intimidated!

I would love to do this in all buttercream if possible, but was unsure how I would pull of a lip for the cover and make it nice and neat.

Would I just carve a book and then ice all those accents??

I'm completely clueless and probably in over my head, but hey, thats how we learn...

icon_lol.gif I would appreciate any advice you can give...

Thanks!

You could just do a rectangle cake and set it on a piece of cardboard that is iced, then put another on top for the top cover. Otherwise, I'd advise fondant for the book cover at least.
