Is it easier to color the fondant and put it on the cake, or put the fondant on and spray it camo colors?

Not quite sure how I would do it. Here's a bump

I think that it would be easy just to color it the different colors. Lay it out and then use the rolling pin on it and it would give it a natual effect.
