Just finished this cake today and leave it to my brother. He tells me that his "favorite part is the giant banana.". It's a MOON!!!! Please tell me it does NOT look like a giant banana!

My first Red Velvet that didn't come straight out of the box and my first Baby Shower Cake.

This cake is special because it is for a couple whose baby has been diagnosed with a severe heart condition. His first surgery is 2 days after he is born. He faces a rough road and his parents have good days and bad days. I wanted to make a special cake to make them smile.

Julia's favorite cake is Red Velvet so I had to give her that and I chose Cream Cheese Icing.

I must say it has to be a "guy's thing", I mean, who would put a baby to sleep on a banana??? For me it's obvious it's a moon. It's such a cute cake.

I mean if you ever DID need to make a giant banana, you could definitely adapt that lol, but given the context, it's pretty clear what it is.

With the stars, clouds, and a sleeping baby.... definetly a moon. Very nice moon too.

ok I hate to be the girl that thinks it does look like a banana, but with so many things in my mind I sometimes do not think clear, regardless you did a great job

That is such a cute cake. Boys will be boys! My DH does that to me all the time. I hope everything goes well for the baby and the parents. He will definitely be in our prayers

Yeah, okay, NO! It doesn't look like a giant banana. Having said that....I have a WONDERFUL husband and 3 WONDERFUL sons...and I can TOTALLY hear them say "My favorite part is the giant banana!" LOL

Boys are boobs! When I told my brother (who is a whole Jerry Springer story in himself!) I was opening a shop, he said, "so you're going to make donuts?" Big sigh!!

No, little brother, I am NOT a "donut shop"! I am a caterer who creates chicken dishes cooked with wine.

But it wasn't just him. When I told hubby I was going to convert the front office space to retail, he cautioned me about having to get up so early for the donut crowd. When I told him, "I'm NOT a donut shop! I make cakes and cookies!", he said, "Then I just don't get what you're doing then."

I guess to a guy .... bakery = donuts. Period.

OhmyGosh ~ What a beautiful cake! It must've been hard trying to sculpt that moon. How did you do it?

I didn't have rice krispies but did similar to a rice krispy treat but with a different cereal. I shaped it, then used a knife to smooth it a little and covered it with fondant.

First of all I could understand how the guy thought it was a bananna due to the fact they are similar in shape BUT like everyone else said...its kind of a no brainer. I mean blue sky, clouds.....stars....of course its a moon!
