I am doing a beach ball cake for a boy who is turning one.

The mother wants a "simple" cake with a beach ball. She wants a sheet cake iced in blue to resemble water - no sand - and the beach ball on top. She also wants a ball "smash" cake.

Any ideas or suggestions on how to make the water look "more watery"????

Also, do you think that using the soccer ball pan and doing just "half a ball" would be okay? Since the soccer ball pan is so large?

Use piping gel to make the water look better. Just brush it on. When you are icing the cake you can make the icing look wavy by not smoothing it.
I think the soccer pan idea would be just fine.
