I was on a golf outing at a beautiful country club yesterday. After golfing, we stopped at the club restaurant for drinks. The restaurant overlooked a gazebo, with a lake and the golf course in the background. We noticed people setting up chairs near the gazebo, and our waitress told us that there were two weddings scheduled at the club - one at 4:00 and one at 5:00. The receptions were being held at banquet halls above the restaurant.
This was our conversation around the table:
Golfer #1 - "What a beautiful venue for a wedding! I wonder if they're golfers or just wanted the pretty back-drop for photos?"
Golfer #2 - "Look at this place. It has to cost a mint to have a wedding here."
Golfer #3 - "The bride looks beautiful." (getting teary eyed)
Golfer #4 - "I wonder if the cakes are set up yet . . . I'd love to get a look at them."
Guess which golfer I was? lol
I was dressed for golf, or I'd have gone to check out the cakes. There was no way that I could say I was a wedding guest. The club does all their own catering, and I couldn't blend in and look like one of them either. It was killing me to sit there.
