I waited until the last minute, of course, to make my accents, and am wondering if they will harden in time to hold up. I've never made anything with gum paste before.

Also, I'm making a ribbon band along the base of my tiers, and have an ei to transfer the pattern to it. Can I just use gum paste for that too, so I don't have to make MMF?

I know I usually let it dry for at least 2-3 days to avoid any mishaps.

When I'm in a super hurry, I've added tylose to gum paste and it's ready in a hour or so. But you need to work fast. For the ribbon I'd definitely use fondant, because you need flexibility. I don't use mmf, though.
