I need to make the color of sapphire - what colors would you use? I have looked at numerous charts and have yet to find the color combo...when I pull up a photo of sapphire it just looks blue to me - I apologize for my color ignorance.

I'd probably use royal as a starting point and add a little black to that. It should not be DARK like navy, but a nice deep, rich blue.

I just had to make navy blue for a baseball hat and started off with blue Satin Ice fondant (you didn't say if you were making fondant or icing, but this is how I got the blue with fondant). I added navy blue Americolor coloring gel. About halfway to navy, I got a beautiful sapphire blue (I wish I could have stopped there, it took FOREVER to make navy, even adding black to it!). HTH! Good luck!

Here is a color chart for the shades of blue...

Saphire is made with Royal blue and some black in it to darken it..
