I have been taking the Wilton Cake Courses over this summer. I'm very new to decorating (I'm starting Course III Sunday) and was wondering what a good recipe for whipped icing is that tastes good but is also easy to make flowers and stars etc. with?
In the Wilton Courses we have been using the Wilton Buttercream recipe that uses all that Crisco Shortening instead of butter. The icing with Crisco is great to work with but tastes sooo gross icon_lol.gif Last Sunday my Wilton Instructor told me that I should try to use whipped icing, but when I got home I realized I have never made whipped icing and don't have a recipe for it, haha.
Anyone have a good recipe??? icon_smile.gif

Hi and Welcome to CC, FrostingFace. icon_smile.gif

Decoding CC acronyms:

Did your instructor mean a whipped icing like that used by Wal-Mart, or Sam's Club?

If so, Wilton sells packages of whipped icing that are somewhat similar...

(See Kitagrl's post, icing does require refrigeration.)

HTH

P.S. FYI, most whipped icings don't crust and making flowers might be more of a challenge.
