I was looking around for a great strawberry cake recipe and found the Strawberry WASC cake. It says to use frozen berries. Has anyone tried this recipe? How many berries do I use? Any other suggestions?

TIA!

The WASC cake is my favorite, it's so versatile and always turns out great.

I have made the strawberry version of recipe three different ways using frozen strawberries, jello and strawberry extract.

Using frozen strawberries makes a cake that doesn't rise quite as much as WASC usually does.

Using jello made the cake too sweet (IMHO).

Using strawberry DH cake mix and strawberry extract was the winning combination for me.

Some CC members also replace some of the water with strawberry nectar, but I don't normally have that in the house so I've never tried it.

You can also use strawberry yogurt in place of the sour cream.
