I was wondering if there is a rule of thumb for how much fondant you need to cover each size cake. I always wind up tinting to much when I eyeball how much I will need and I hate to waste my satin ice. Is there a guide out there or does anyone have a way of determining how much they use for each size cake?

I use Colette Peters guide that's in her books, and there is a Wilton guide in the 2007 Wilton yearbook...

I bought the large fondant rolling pin that Wilton sells and I was so excited to see that it had a guide on the back for how many ounces of fondant you would need for each size cake. I just started working with fondant and I was worried about wasting a lot of colored fondant because I didn't know. If you don't want to hunt down a rolling pin you can PM and I will type up the chart for you.
