I'm not sure what to do. This year for my pastor's birthday I did his cake-I replicated his guitar. I want her cake to be just as special. I thought about a hat box cake but she doesn't like fondant and I'm scared to do one in all buttercream. Any ideas? Thanks everybody!!!!

What about just using fondant accents. You could make a round cake then add a strip of fondant around the top so that it still appears to be the top on a hat box.

if you're making it as a gift i don't see why you can't cover it in fondant with a nice thick laye of buttercream underneath...she doesn't have to eat the fondant if she doesn't like it and she'll still be getting frosting.
