I have never covered styrofoam before, and the last four attempts haven't work. I am using MMF, spraying with a mist of water before putting the MMF on.

Any suggestions? It keep tearing on the top edge. I finally threw the MMF away. I am so frustrated.

When I cover dummies, I brush the cake with royal that I've blended with water so it's soupy. I roll the RF thick, too. Are you rolling it too thin?

I've never used MMF.

I have heard it helps to roll the edge of the styrofoam so that it isn't as "sharp".

I have never covered a dummie but I did hear that...icon_smile.gif

good luck!

This is what I typically do. DH sands the top edge a little so that it is slightly rounded.

I also agree with rolling the fondant a little thicker. I definitely roll it thicker than I would for an actual cake -- and I have used MMF for a dummy before. It is so much cheaper than the Satin Ice that I normally use and is easy to whip up in a hurry.

Good luck! icon_smile.gif
