Hey everyone, I need help! I have to make a cake for someone's birthday this Wed and they requested a Mexican themed cake. I browsed and completely fell in love with this one... Im somewhat of a newbie so im scared!!!! I ordered an airbrush system so it should be arriving on Mon. Can someone guide me on how to get this look? For one I think I need to buy red fondant, but how did she get that darkish color on the bottom edge of the hat? Is the gold royal icing in gold or just paint? What pan did she use? I have soo many questions lol Please help, thank you!!!!

pans -- appears to be a wonder mold on top of a stack of 6" cakes (diameter of wondermold base)

dark areas -- airbrushed

not sure on the gold piping --- one method: golden yellow royal icing then paint w/ gold luster dust.

Thanks Doug!!!!!!!!! What color do you think was used to airbrush? Also is how did they get the fondant to shape that way at the bottom of the hat, do you think that is gum paste hardened to shape that way or fondant shaped and dried?
