Hey all,
I know its not a huge deal, but one of my cakes finally appeared in Mailbox News. I am so excited! I sent a few pictures about a year ago. If anyone is interested, its on page 5, the large photo with the draped flag on the cake.
Thanks for reading,
Cindy

Not a big deal ? Shoot, anytime your cakes get recognized...It's a BIG deal!! Congrats on the recognition
I don't get Mailbox News, I get American Cake Decorating magazine, please post a picture of your cake & congratulations.
One of my cakes went across the screen for "Popular Graduation Cakes" and I almost fell off my chair! Heck, it is a big deal for you, sit back and revel in all your glory!!! Congratulation!!!
You have got to be kidding me! Not a big deal. If a.n.y and I mean any! of my cakes were recognized or even mentioned, you would have to pull me down from the ceiling. Congratulations, YOU-GO-GIRL you desearve a thumbs up!
Cindy, that is a fabulous cake, I was just looking at all your pictures & you really do beautiful work.
superstar,
thank you so much for your kind words. I had a baby a year ago (my 4th child!) and I haven't had time to devote to my cakes... I'm really feeling the itch now to do some cakes and wouldn't you know it, my oven is broken}!!
Have a great weekend..
Cindy
Oh Cindy, I am so sorry your oven is broken, I hope it will be fixed really soon. I take my hat off to all you ladies who have young children & still find time to do wonderful cakes. You are the best.
No big Deal???? are you kidding?? the cake is gorgeous! i love the flag and how it's draped! mind me asking how you get the red and white stripes to stick together w/out falling apart but not being "layered" looking??? WTG!!!
Ruby2uesday, thanks for your comments. I used only one piece of fondant to make the flag. To make the flag stripes crisp, first I used a straight edged ruler to make the stripes in the fondant, then I handpainted with Wilton red diluted with a little lemon extract. You had to be careful when handling cause it didn't really dry, but really made the red "pop".
Guys, thanks again for the supportive comments. Since I've been away from my cakes, I'd forgotten how supportive everyone here is..
Cindy
