This is my first time posting but I love coming here...I get all kinds of tips, hints and ideas...there are some gorgeous cakes here...I havent made but only a few cakes and thats mostly for family but my question is, I am making the guitar cake with the Wilton cake pan for my FIL...that cake alone will not be enough for his party, so I was thinking of putting it on top of a sheet cake...Now, do I put the guitar cake on some type of cardboard, trimmed down so you cant see it and then use straws/dowels cut off and placed inside the sheet cake for support??? How can I make sure the cake looks level on top?
Thanks so much in advance...I LOVE coming here!

Yes, you are correct. For a cake like this, I would use straws under the guitar. Just make a cardboard shaped like the guitar and cover totally with foil. Support under the shape with straws all cut the same size. If you have a level sheet cake, you'll be just fine. If not, level it with a cake level of some sort.

HTH!
