I colored some Mcalls rolled fondant with wilton gel color. I covered my cake board, and let it dry over night. The next morning it was white!! The leftover pink fondant in plastic wrap is perfect. What happened. Is there anything I can do to keep the color?

pink is notorious for fading. anything i do in pink i always cover in foil to keep from the light until just before serving.
