I've been trying to find out what the fees are to get permission to use Copyrighted images ( disney etc ) and i have been unable to find them. has anyone else researched this? Or can you point me in the right diredtion?

Well I don't know how different it is since you are in Canada. But as far as I know for the US, cake shops have to purchase the Disney kits from wholesale reps.

Other than big public characters like that that are already mass marketed, say you wanted to do a Fed Ex plane or the RedSox logo or something you just contact those folks on a case by case basis. I'd contact their legal department.
