So I was wondering when making a 3d dress cake and wrap the cut off doll pick to hold the bodice, do you use fondant to cover the doll pick? And wouldn't the black of that icing 'bleed' through to the whit bodice of the dress? or what do you do to prevent this?

I used black fondant/gumpaste to cover the doll pick when I did mine... I let it dry for probably a week before I put the white dress bodice over it. It won't bleed through, and as long as your white isn't too thin, you shouldn't see the black through it either. It's in my photos if you want to look.

Good luck!!! HTH!!

I covered my doll pick torso in gray fondant, textured it slightly with a stiff brush, brushed it with black petal dust and steamed it lightly to set the dust. Doing it briannastreats' way would probably have been better, but I had to hurry... The white bodice didn't have any bleed-through though.
