every time I make a crusting buttercream frosting, it seems to never stick to the cake.. even with a crumb coat.. any suggestions?? I just did a cupcake cake and I was told that the frosting needed to be "sliced" to get the cupcake out with frosting on it...

Thanks
Wendy

sounds like your icing is too thick. try thinning it down with a little water (start w/a teaspoon amount, until you get a smooth consistency). it should glide when you ice the cake.

I have no problem icing it, it's when it sits and crusts and is ready to be cut .. or with the cupcake cake, when they took the cupcakes from the middle, the frosting came off the cupcake ...
