How Long Does Candy Clay Have To Sit?

I just made some candy clay, how long does it have to sit before I can use ut?

It is best to let it set overnight. If you try too soon, it will be too soft to hold a shape. After it sets, you will have to knead it to make it pliable. Do not blot any accumulated oils-the clay will be too dry. Just knead them in to the whole.

I forgot two things should I wrap it up or leave it open? And should I have added my color first or can I knead it in?

I knead the just-made modeling chocolate over the sink to work out some of the excess oil. It's a messy step and a lot of oil will come out. Then I let it rest overnight, uncovered. I didn't know to knead it until I found a recipe (Michele Foster's) that recommended doing that, and what a difference it made. No lumps of hardened oils, and a nice smooth product that was easy to knead the next day.
