Try the Dept of Agriculture. My understanding is that you have to have a separate kitchen with alot of restrictions. icon_confused.gif

Yes, Dept of Agriculture. And you do have to have a separate kitchen, no baking from home. You can have a separate building on your property, though, I think. There are a lot of restrictions.

Make sure you get a building permit before you start building ANYTHING. Be sure to contact your local Department of Agriculture. Also, make sure the covenant in your neighborhood (if you live in a neighborhood) allows for a business to be run out of your home. Oh! And contact your county Planning and Zoning to make sure your address is properly zoned for home business. HTH

Should I do the same for Dekalb County, GA. I'm buying a house in Lithonia GA and really want to continue baking cakes and cookies out of my home. Not sure if it matters by county.

You have to have a seperate kitchen and the dept of ag will give you a list of what you need in there.
You have to call them as the website for Me was of no help.

The dept of agriculture for the STATE , has requirements
The COUNTY you live in has requirements
The CITY you live in has requirements
Your WATER company has requirements
Possibly the NEIGHBORHOOD you are in has requirements.
They may all be different.

Start at one level and work your way through and get everyone's info before you build anything and waste time and money
