I'm getting ready to do my first topsy turvy and it is going to be four tier wedding cake. I plan on using dowelling rods. Is this the best method? what method do you guys normally use?

I used wooden dowels. I also cut a hole in the bottom cake for the next tier to fit into, then a hole in that tier for the next one, and so on, so each cake sat on a level surface. I basically followed the tutorial in the Articles section on here.
