You can also use a ruler - just line it up depending on the size of the diamond pattern.
I didn't have any tools and no time to order any. I took a clean foam meat packing tray. It is somewhat flexible. I figured out the angle I needed and cut the bottom of my strip to that angle ( I used 45 degrees). I made the strip as wide as I wanted my diamond to be. I held it next to my cake lining up the bottom of my template with the bottom edge of the cake. The template layed against my cake (fondant) at the correct angle I wanted my diamonds. I used a butter knife to draw my line on both sides of my template. After going all around the cake with my lines in one direction, I then turned my template over and made the lines going in the opposite direction. Experiment how deep or shallow you want the lines as you do not want to go over it twice. I hope this make sense, I am sure the other ways are easier altho this was pretty simple.
On fondant cakes, I like to use the three diamond quilters. If you want more info on these and how to use them, just e-mail me at: [email protected]
They are SO easy to use!
