My DH is making my daughters birthday cake for next weekend. He's never done one but is ambitious. (I don't have hardly any experience with gumpaste and he plans on using it.) He needs to make a yellow tale with black on the end.

Can gumpaste, once formed and dried, be painted on with food coloring, or will that ruin the gumpaste?

I paint on gumpaste all the time with powdered food coloring mixed with lemon extract. When I was a newbie, I used straight Wilton black food coloring to paint spots on some cows, and it never dried. Don't do that! icon_smile.gif

I sometimes use americolor liquid color straight, but I have mixed the wilton gels with vodka and painted on gp. Works fine.
