How do you properly stack a cake with more than two tiers? I have to do a three tier and I am stressing that the cake may collapse. I have seen that you stick one long dowel from top to bottom once the cake is completed but is that all there is to it? No more support? No more dowels anywhere else??? Is there an online tutorial or any book out there that may guide me through the process? I would really appreciate any help I can get!

start here, but if you google: how to stack a cake dowels, you will get a few options. This looked simplest to follow to me.

Sugarshack has a new DVD about stacking. She goes into detail about the boards she uses too. I would suggest getting it. I just love her other two video's also, buttercream and fondant.

This is her website.
