I am attempting to a make a cake that may or may not turn out. It is a carved cake and it is somthing that is very new to me. I am making it for this saturday, I have already baked and froze the cakes, now i need to carve and decorate and give myself plenty of time to fail and bake and decoarate a second cake if this one does not turn out so how early can I attempt this cake? How long will it stay good sitting out decorated? How long if I can put it in the fridge without any covering? please help i greatly appreciate it and for all curious it is a 3-d bodice cake for a lingere shower.

Once you complete it can't you put it back into the fzr? I've done that. I've also kept cake in the frig up to a week. I thought it was just as good as the 1st day. Keep it well covered. If possible, boxit, then put the b ox into a plastic bag to refrigerate or fz it.
Also you could make up your 'in case' cake and have that in the fzr.
