I'm making my first cake using filling for a friend today. I'm making strawberry filling that I got off here (strawberries, sugar, cornstarch).

I know I need to pipe a dam of frosting but do I also have to spread a thin, crumbcoat layer of BC frosting on the layers too? I was wondering about the filling make the cake soggy and if there needs to be a "buffer".

Thanks.

That filling should not make your cake soggy (it should be a jelly like consistency when finished making), no crumbcoat is needed between layers. Just be sure you have your dam and then crumbcoat the exterior.
