I'm going to attempt my first cookies decorated with MMF.

i bought the ingredients and have the recipe. Rhonda's recipe says to wrap in plastic wrap and store in a ziploc for 24 hours. When coloring the MMF, i'm assuming you do it after this period.

also, how long will it last in an air tight container?

thanks!

It will last for months. And do your self a favor and color it this way.
Grease a microwave bowl. Put your torn off piece of MMF in the bowl and put a drop of food color. I use Americolor.
Grease a spoon. Nuke it for like 8 - 10 seconds, less if a very small chunk. Don't touch it - its hot and will stick to your hand. Stir with the spoon. When its cooled off enough to handle, pull it and knead it and make sure your color is the same all the way through. If its a darker color, you might want to grease your hands so they don't stain. HTH. PM me is this doesn't make sense to you.

I always color mine right after I melt the marshmallows and water, before I put in the powdered sugar. It's worked well for me and it doesn't take a lot of kneading or stirring.

i like both tips, thanks!!
the micro one sounds perfect for smaller amounts or multi colors in one batch and the color while melting marshmallows sounds awesome for coloring a whole batch!!

you guys are awesome!

I know it can last a while in an airtight container, but has anyone tried storing mmf in the freezer?
PS thanks for all the tips on colouring.
