Do I need to have any support on a mini cake? I was thinking of a 6-4-2, or maybe just a 6-4 mini cake. Each layer will be 2", torted, so the height would not be too much. So support or no? What if it was a double layer 6-4-2?

I wouldn't either. I know there is a 'rule of thumb' to dowel every 4" but these are not heavy. If the sizes were bigger I'd say yesicon_smile.gif
