Hi everyone. I'm doing a cake for a luncheon and for some reason I'm worried about this one. My *thing* is decorating, as in centerpiece decorating, but this cake needs to be more about taste and presentation per slice, if that makes sense. In other words, it needs to be a sheet cake that looks good plated individually.

Any suggestions on a recipe for this sheet cake and how I can make individual, maybe elegant but not too detailed decorations? I'm thinking maybe a lemon cake of some sort with a dollop of icing and a lemon slice or a chocolate cake with a chocolate piped decoration or something along these lines. Following me?

So I guess I'm asking for recipe suggestions as well as decoration suggestions for each 2" x 2" slice.

Any help out there??? I'm stumped.

Do you use scratch, or doctored cake mix recipes?

If you torte your layers, put down a thin layer of b/c and then a layer of sleeved pastry filling; the plated slices look very showy. thumbs_up.gif
(At least, IMHO.) icon_lol.gif

Thanks Jan. Yeah, I"m thinking torted would look so much nicer.

I've never used any sleeves. Any suggestions on flavors? icon_smile.gif I'm not a great scratch baker but I'm looking at doctored mixes in the Cake Doctor book.
