So I'm making a 3 tiered round bug cake for ds 1st Birthday this weekend, and I'm at a loss. I would like to write his name and let harden before the party, then just set it on the cake, like I'm doing with the bugs. I've used Fondant for the bugs but I can't write like I want to with the fondant. Should I use gum paste? And can I just use the Wilton's stuff? I'm so worried because I just used the wilton's stuff for the bugs, and I know that it tastes like crap, so I hope that no one eats the bugs!! Can I use BC and let that sit out and dry? I'd like to write his name handwritten...thoughts please! Thank you all!

Edited to Add this thought: While I'm writting a post, I would like to put clouds on the top of the cake. I have dragonflies on wire, coming from the top layer. I would love to have white puffy clouds on the top...how do I do that??? Thanks!!!

you can make a plaque with royal icing. it dries hard and you can write on it. icon_wink.gif
