I was at the supermarket this morning, (DH cake mix 10/$10) and noticed a product I haven't seen before...Sunsweet Lighter Bake. Use it in place of oil, butter and/or shortening.

It is dark in color and says that you can use half of what the recipe calls for... i.e. recipe calls for 1 cup of oil, you can use 1/2 cup of this product). I don't think I would use it in the icing if I was decorating, just the cake mix.

Was wondering if anyone has used it and what they thought.

I have used it in cookies with good results. But it is better in items that have natural color from things like brown sugar or chocolate. It does add some darkness to the item.

And you are correct, it would not be good in icing.
