Hi everyone...I'm a newbie here and can't lurk anymore, lol. I need help. I've got a friend who would like me to make her a baby buggy cake for a baby shower.

However she'd like it made out of cupcakes and while I'm good at decorating cakes, I've never done a cupcake cake before and I'm not sure how to fill in the gaps that will arise when icing the cake. I've done a rough layout with "paper" cupcakes and I'm not entirely sure this shape will work. Has anyone made one before?

i made individual baby buggy cupcakes, its in wiltons cupcake book. they turned out great. If you meant making one big baby buggy I'd just do a ruffled border connecting all the cupcakes. Does that help?

WOW...I'm surprised to come back and find only one person replied back to me. I thought I'd get more help from everyone since there's so many experts here. icon_sad.gif

Thanks for responding redrambler. I meant one big cake made out of cupcakes in the shape of a baby buggy. I like the idea of your border though. I'm going to make a test cake out of cupcakes and see if I can learn from that how to do this.

Hi - I've made a baby buggy cupcake cake, and it was super easy. Take a look at my photos and you'll see it there.

----
really very easy -- hint use the big icing tip to lay on the icing...

if pushed together really tightly, not too much icing will go down between (awwww shucks -- less icing to pig out on!)

Thank you! Your cake looks great! My client had something very similar in mind to what you made so it's nice to see one that's been done. I love the babies face...too cute!

Thanks so much for the links! I'm making this cake tomorrow so they came just in time. I'll be sure to post a pic of the finished cake for you all to see. I'm still a little nervous but I think actually I know it will be ok...somehow it will work out. I mean, it's not impossible to do, lol!

Thanks again to all who responded! icon_smile.gif

For those that are interested here is a picture of my finished cake. The person I made it for liked it so much she wants me to make a bumblebee cupcake cake out of 50 cupcakes in two weeks time.

Thank you. The person I made the cake for really wanted it to look like a cake so that's why I iced the sides.
