What Piece Of Of Equipment You Regret Buying

I have both Wilton cake torter's, is that how you spell that?? Love my AGBAY!!!!
Should have spent the money first at Agbay.
I've used my airbrush twice. I think I just need to find the time to read and practice, but I don't.
I LOVE my Agbay leveler...coudn't live without it.
I bought a large leveler (not Wilton's and unfortunately not Agbay) and I can't stand it!
Another dust collector I have is that $40 s u g a r c r a f t gun, the black and red one -- it's sooo hard on the wrist that I've used it once.
I would have to agree with the large leveler. It's just about caused me to lose my religion on several occasions!
Unless there is a trick to using the little extruder I bought from Sxxxxxx(sorry, bought it before all the comotion) it's the pitts..........I love what it does but it is so blasted hard to squeeze. I have tried to soften my fondant a little bit in the micro , but then it drys so quickly when I do.
There has to be a better one out there....I would like to find it.

There is, the green Makins clay extruder -- it uses a twist action rather than a pump action -- MUCH easier on the wrists!!

ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!! I know the feeling honey!
The tappits letter cut outs--I just have no luck with them--I probably need to practice more!
I would have to say the wilton fondant rolling pin (the small one). I hate and can't stand it. I just use my regular wooden rolling pin and it is wonderful.
I second the Wilton tilted turntable Almost lost a cake twice, I'm done with it !!!!!!!!! Someone just told me for the tappits (they give me grief too, but I love them ) To roll fondant thin even a 50/50 fondant gumpaste mix, let it sit for a few min and dust with a luster dust then cut out. Try that.
I see I thirded the Wilton turntable, hahahahahaha I hate that thing.
Wiltons Tilting Cake Turntable. What a disappointment !
ME TOO!!
sorry I don't know how to add, Molly2 wrote!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
Wilton's Icing Sculptor. This week I finally cleaned up...and let's just say it's on its way to the landfill. lol
Complete waste of money and time. Wish I never bought it.
probably my kopykake projector - even though I got a great deal, I just don't use it enough to justify it's purchase....also I'm having trouble keeping the arm up, even after tightening the screw, so it just collects dust right now..
also , I hate having all those character pans that I use only once and then have to find a place to store them...ugh!
Most of the wilton stuff. I like their tips but that's about it.
I so agree!!! Their tilting turntable their ribbon cutter/embossing tool! What a POC that is!!!!!!
I am going to have to check out this Agbay leveler. Never heard of it! HMMMM!
Amy
Oh yeah! Definately all those character pans. Mine were given to me moons ago. I think I have bought maybe two of them but I NEVER use them. No one wants a character pan cake!
Amy
my projector... I only regret it because I have had it nearly a year now and i have yet to use it.... !
The largest invested piece of equipment I regret buying is my edible printer set up. I only use it occasionally and find it's more throuble than it's worth trying to get the colors to run. I guess if I had a call to use it on a daily basis it would be better.

um.........I think you guys need to pass those puppies on!! LOL I'm dying to have a projector but I just can't afford one!!! I'm constantly looking /bidding on ones that are less expensive on ebay!!
Wilton large leveler (small one works fine), Wilton letter presses, Wilton fondant cutter embossor, Wilton fondant tools. I think only about half of their stuff is worth having and the other half is ok. Saving for an Agbay
Ditto on the character pans, although thank goodness it was years and years ago and I've long ago sent them on their merry way to clutter up someone else's cabinets! But it was one of those life-lessons that causes me to pause whenever I'm buying something new ... "is this going to turn into a character pan collection?"
Yeah I must agree with the Wilton tilting turn table... While it works ok overall I hate 2 things - that the top part comes off (and can not be locked on in any way) and that it does not sit level! So my cake looks crooked on it. But I didn't know any better or I would have invested in a nicer one.
I'm not a fan of that Wilton ribbon cutter or the punch embossers that came in the FGP class kit...I could do without those, especially that punch thing. I have not used that since I took the class almost a year ago.
i don't have a piece of equipment yet that i don't like, but after reading this thread, i know some i won't be buying! LOL
I agree about most of the wilton stuff!
But my most upsetting purchase was just recently... I got a loan to open my cake shop and drove to Kentucky to buy used equipment (I live in Northern Indiana). All the used equipment is fine but my DH got so equipment happy he nearly threw a fit when I almost turned down a 20qt mixer, so needless to say I bought it. I thought maybe I could get ALOT of frosting done at once and it was not nearly as expensive as a hobart, I payed $1,300. Well I finally got to use it last week, I almost threw up when after all my frosting was made and there we tiny lumps of shortening through out my frosting! I ended up having to put small batches into my KA to get it smooth! What a nightmare! Im going to try a few more times but I am very frustrated that I gave into the pressure of my equipment crazy husband!
So in the end for all of you who hate your wilton pans and turntables, just sleep good knowing you dont have a $1300 piece of equipment sitting in your kitchen.
Yes, the tilting wilton turntable. Horrible.
The wilton fondant cutter/embosser and character pans.
BTW, is there anything else out there like the wilton cutter/embosser tool that isn't made out of plastic?
Amy- Try a pie crust cutter. It has two wheels, one that does a straight cut and one that is a wave.
