I am doing a practice cake for a wedding in August and the bride wants cupcakes and a small 8" cake for her and the groom to cut. I've got that down but the 8" cake she wants to have a fondant bow on it the color of her bridesmaid dresses. Her color is eggplant. I thought that maybe I would use purple and add some blue ( blue and red make purple right?).
Or should I add black or even brown? I just am not sure where to start.
Is there a color chart somewhere? Thanks.

Can you get a swatch of the dresses? There are many different color variations with color names. When I think eggplant, I think dark purple, nearly black.

It is dark purple, not burgundy. She will give me a swatch of the dresses
soon, but I wanted to get ahead start.

I think that you would start with purple then black or brown to darken.

What about 1 part red and 2 parts blue=blue violet. Because violet is 2 parts red and 2 parts blue.I got that info from and old Durkee food color box .
