I received a phone call from the manager of the hotel where we were staying and she told us the hotel is going to be demolished!!! OMG we have no hotel now...she is trying to get us a room somewhere else nearby.

It would be really nice if we all could meet for dinner as someone suggested.

Let me know when and where, I'm also taking Bronwen W. class on Monday the 22nd.
I so excited....I can't wait, I can't wait!!!

I'm so glad to see that other people are going, too! I just got my badge in the mail a couple days ago. I went last year in Las Vegas. It was a great experience, but I went alone as I am this year. I would LOVE to meet up with some of you.

I am taking the Bronwen class on the 22nd also. I'm so excited about that. I watched her last year at the demo with the dolphin cake, but I didn't get to go to any hands-on classes since I registered too late. I only registered for the Bronwen class because of the cost. I was ready to break down and sign up for the Ron Ben-Israel class, and it was full when I went to sign up.

I am staying at the Fairfield Inn in Absecon--$80 a night and $130 for Saturday night. Don't know if anyone else is staying outside of the convention area. I am willing to carpool if anyone is interested. CakeGrlPA, I think they still had room at the Fairfield Inn if you're still looking. I can't believe they booked you and then said they're demolishing the hotel!!!!

A group dinner would be a lot of fun! Anyone else interested? I'm originally from NJ, but central NJ, so I'm not too familiar with Atlantic City. I'm sure there are great seafood places to eat at!

Well, you ladies let me know.

I love PF Chan's (at the Tropicana), the have amazing dishes...not sure if they have a big selection of seafood dishes though.

The lady manager from our first hotel booked us somewhere else, my BF go the fax with the confirmation, so I don't know the name of the hotel yet.
We're checking in on Saturday 20th and leaving on Tuesday the 23rd.

You can PM me your phone # so we meet up for dinner or whatever... I will send you my cell #.

I am a PF Changs fan, too. I am flying in to Philly and driving to NJ on Saturday evening (flight into Philly was much cheaper than Newark). I would be interested in meeting for dinner or getting together at the Expo and trading tips and stories.

loriemoms - They have a parking garage. They also have some parking right outside of it, but it fills up pretty quick with the outlet stores they put in there, they have really tried to make it nice right there. The outlet area is called "The Walk at Atlantic City" The Conv Center is right at the end of the Atlantic City Expressway, the train station is right there and the bus station is about 2 blocks away. Since I live so close I am trying to go, I am trying to get in touch with someone there, I think the novice baker should be able to go!! I just want to watch, learn, be in awwww...

Well, I guess PF Chang's is the winner.
They have this spicy eggplant dish...mmm...delicious!

Please let me know if you guys would rather meet for dinner on Saturday, Sunday (so we wait for Loriemom) or Monday night...I don't mind either night.

Robinscakes - do you need a car, or just a shuttle to Atlantic city, the shuttle is 45 per person.

Kettlevalleygirl - I was thinking I will rent a car since my hotel is in Absecon, not in AC. Can you PM me and let me know your flight? Any chance you're on Northwest going through Detroit to Atlantic City?

Jenn, myself and our family are going this year. This will be our second time. Kneadacookie - We just paid $30.00 each person and $150 a person for each hands-on class. The seminars are free just get there early if you want a seat. We go to AC about 2-3 times a year so we stay at various casinos. We can't wait, we're taking Bronwen Weber's class on Monday. We saw Ron Ben-Israel last time. It's so much fun, only one more week. Yeah

That's so cool! I was reading about that. So you have to be a member of RBA right? How much does that cost yearly? I would love to be in a competition in another year or two.

Yeah, my DH was able to get the days off..we are going on sunday morning (will be driving all day!) and will be arriving Sunday evening, so will miss the first day (we are going to try to get there for the tail end of Sunday) and will be there for Monday and Tuesday (leaving afternoon on Tuesday)

We are going to be staying at Balleys on the boardwalk. Anyone else staying there?

Would love to see if anyone would like to meet for lunch maybe on Monday? Or afternoon tea? or dinner? or just in a corner somewhere at some time so we can just say Hey? hahaha!

btw, if you haven't found a hotel room yet, Celine Dion is in town for Saturday night and the hotel rooms just for Saturday are like 300 dollars more! (and many are booked up) We were booking our room and literally saw the price going up for Saturday as we were browsing! hahaha! (luckilly we got in on time and didn't have to pay 500 dollars for our room)

I'm so excited to go! It's my first Bakery/Cake Expo. I am only able to make the last day, Sept. 23, because we are taking our 3 daughters to Disney and fly home on the 22. I am fortunate since I live only 15 minutes from Atlantic City in a small town called Linwood. So I can just drive over. I was too late in signing up to make any of the classes, but I'm just thrilled to go and see what it's all about.

We will be there Monday & Tuesday. In our area whenever there is a wedding expo, the girls from the knot tie a light blue ribbon on their purse or pinned to their shirt. We should come up with a color so we could do the same with and that way we would know as we are at the expo if the person next to you is from cake central. Maybe a bow using both rose and blue, the colors of the cake central backgroung and heading.

That is a terrific idea! Blue is so easy to find, if everyone ties a a blue or rose colored ribbon around their purse or bag (I am sure everyone will be carrying SOMETHING!)

We are going to all the wedding cake seminars and such (none of the paid demos...just couldn't afford them this year) so if you see us, come say hi!

Both of our photos are on my web site

blue & rose/pink or just blue?
Good thing you didn't suggest beads, my husband would think I'd gone crazy!
