When using ribbon around the base of your cake, what is the best store brand or type to use...

I tried using a cloth type ribbon on my cake and even put a border between it and the cake and the icing discolored it..or, would it have dried back to its original color???

Do ya'll use the ribbon that is kinda like curling ribbon???, but of course wider (1in.)???

I have had success with the type ribbon that has the wires and sheer color.. I guess because it is not a solid piece of material.. as I said guessing....

Thanks for the input

i use regular old ribbon you get at the craft store, but i back it with wax paper, so the grease doesn't soak through and discolor the ribbon. also, if you wait until the bc is hardened a bit, not so much grease with be soaked up.

HTH!

What a great idea with the wax paper. Do you use BC to attach it to the ribbon?
