Does anyone else love the effect shortening has on your finger nails? Ever since I have started getting into cake decorating 2 years ago, I always thought it made my nails longer and healthier. Then I had a long dry spell this winter where I had no cake orders for a few months and my nails were short and brittle. Now I've had 3 cake orders in the past 10 days. My nails are all long and healthy looking again. I swear it's the shortening because that's the only thing I get all over my hands, and then the icing always gets on my hands. I think I'm just going to start rubbing the stuff on my hands for the fun of it lol.

If this is true, I can save money on manicures. icon_wink.gif

Hmm, I can just see hubby's confused face now...

"AJsGirl, what are you doing???"

"Just doing my nails, dear..." icon_biggrin.gif

I think I'll give it a try tonight!

shortning is wonderful stuff i agree! i always thought my nails were great because of pre-natal vitamins but i haven't taken those for about 2 years and my nails are great! i also have terrible eczema and i rub it on my hands when i'm baking (all those dishes really reek havoc on my itchy dry hands!) and it really helps keep 'em nice!
