Hi. I am wanting to make cookies for my son's party favors next weekend.

I am a pro for doing edible images on cakes...but have never tried it for cookies.

What is the best icing to use? I want the cookies to dry hard so I can wrap them in clear cello bags.

Do I need to use piping gel or anything else when I place the image on the cookie?

Any help would be great!

Thanks! icon_smile.gif

I've only done them with royal icing, but I have read about people using fondant as their base, just brush the fondant with water first and then apply the image, I think.

I have done them on fondant before and that was my plan B.

So...do you just spread the royal icing on the cookie and put the image on there before it dries???

Would it work with any other cookie icing that dries hard?

Thanks!

That's all I did. Spread the RI on, let it level out for a few seconds, then lay your image on. I don't know of any other icing that dries hard, but I don't see why it wouldn't work. icon_smile.gif

I've also put them on royal and rolled butter cream.
