I need to make my grandmother in law a 95th birthday cake. What should I do? I need a cake for like 15 people.
that's very nice.
thank you for sharing. my husband (the grandson of the honoree) wants the 3D bear cake. I was like WHHAAATTTT?!??!
so, we'll see!!
your welcome tara
just wanted to give you an idea, if you dont want to cover in fondant, BC is just as nice....
I just did a photo album cake for my grandmother's 94th birthday . . . it is in my photos. I used edible images, and put pictures of her as a child, and other family photos. I got a bit carried away with the writing, and maybe a few too many pictures, but she was really touched by the photos! If you have access to getting some edible images printed, it is a really nice idea if you'd like to go the sentimental route.
Thanks for that tip
Can you go to your local bakery for those images?? I just bought my first kitchenaid mixer last night so a new printer for edible images just may get me divorced!!
Some bakeries will do edible images. Call around and see if you can find one that is within reasonable distance from you. I like the idea of celebrating the life the person had, happy events, trips, family. This kind of BD cake can be a lot of fun to design.
You can also order them online from sugarcraft.com and icingimages.com, and i'm sure other places, too. I printed my images wallet sized, all on one sheet of icing paper, and then cut them out. I found better software and realized that I could have done them nicer with borders and text below (instead of using an edible marker to write the tags).
