I have seen quite a few cakes that have been iced with more than one color. I just can't mentally figure it out myself. icon_redface.gif Can someone explain how to do this? Here is an example of what I am talking about...

I've done this a few times, it's not hard at all.

I ice the lighter color first, then chill the cake and ice the darker sections. The sides you don't need to chill, just ice them as usual. As long as you're careful not to over work it, the colors will not blend. The borders hide where the two colors meet.

Using the Melivira method to smooth it is the key for me. If you tried to ice it smooth with a knife, you'd probably end up blending the colors.
