I'm looking for a buttercream recipe that is less sweet. My husband doesn't like the real sweet ones. I'm looking for one like a lot of bakeries use. Anyone know a good one?

I think you can add a dash or two of salt to take away some of the sweetness. I use sams club buttercream and just add flavoring. It does not seem as sweet as some I have made.

I'm no expert, but to cut down on the sweetness for certain clients of mine, I use SALTED butter instead of unsalted. They really seem to like it that way. I like it too, but there aren't many buttercreams I don't like. icon_smile.gif

My recipe:
1 stick butter (salted or unsalted depending on the customer)
1 cup crisco
2 lb. bag powdered sugar
2 tsp clear vanilla
whole milk to desired consistancy

Happy Baking! HTH!
