How do you all do it; big and small batches, by hand or during the mixing?

during the mixing, in the KA, if I need a whole batch of the same color.

If I need smaller batches, like for flowers, I try to start with a base (primary) color and add from there.

Let's say I need blue and purple flowers, green leaves and red roses.

I'll mix half a batch of blue icing in the KA.
I'll mix half a batch of red icing in the KA.

Make red roses and blue flowers.
Then mix some yellow into some of the blue icing to make green for the leaves.
Then mix the remaining blue and red together in the KA to make purple.

I'm basically a lazy person and want to have to wash as few containers as possible, so that's why I start with the primary colors and add to that as I need it.
