I'm wondering the same thing. Chocolate gum paste flowers - sounds yummier than plain gum paste icon_smile.gif

If you're going to use it with pre-made gumpaste, the addition of cocoa powder will alter the consistency and if the cocoa is "dutch(ed)", it has alkali added to it and it will dry the gumpaste alot.

If you're going to make your own gum paste with cocoa powder added, you'll probably need to play around with the ratio of cocoa to powdered sugar, not just for color, but for dryness, too.

Since almost no one would eat much, if any gum paste, anyway, flavor probably doesn't matter alot. If color is the biggest issue, dusting and steaming them with brown petal dust should work nicely.

sorry i wasn't clear... i was going to try and use cocoa powder instead of petal dust...
i wonder if that would work?
