How Do I Make Dark Brown Buttercream?

I dont have chocolate frosting and right now I need to make dark brown buttercream for a Scooby Doo cake... I need help ASAP! tapedshut.gif

Do you have any cocoa you could sift into buttercream? Or melt some chocolate and mix it in. Sorry I have no idea what kind of products you have over there (we can't even buy pre-made frosting other than fondant here)

w/o chocolate, can only think of the obvious - food dye. might experiment with a bit of frosting to see what would give you brown

can you get some Hershery(sp) Special Dark cocoa? Mix it with a little melted shortening. (6 T. cocoa with 2 T. melted shortening) Good Luck!

i use 1/2 cup cocoa in my buttercream

Ditto on the Hershey's Special Dark, but use half that and half regular Hershey's cocoa...or the buttercream will be BLACK, not dark brown. Ask me how I know???!!! In fact, I use the Special Dark exclusively for making black buttercream now!

Walmart has brown coloring during the halloween period.
