I've just done my first ball tin, I made a maderia cake that I copied the reciepe from Lindy Smith for a 4" round ball tin, seperated the reciepe in half and put half each in each half.

Well it hasnt gone to plan as the two half's havent even risen to the edges and they both and what I can only describe as hills on the top of them in the middle!! icon_cry.gificon_cry.gif I made sure I tapped and shook them as much as I could to get it all even. icon_cry.gificon_cry.gif

Where did I go wrong?

Thanx Rach icon_sad.gif

I would try some bake even strips - to try and slow some of the baking. Since it's so uneven it bakes uneven. Also, try baking at a lower temp. I made these earlier this year and I think I baked at a lower temp, and got fairly even round cakes.
