For those of you who have done a 3d football using the wilton pan, which way did you stack the cakes? side by side or one on top of the other. The cake will be travelling 2 hours so I was wondering what option would be the sturdiest. TIA!

I would think that one on top of the other would be more sturdy! Have you ever used the regular ball pan? Same thing... Iwould think that if you put it side by side that there would be a chance of splitting.

That is what I was thinking but I wasnt sure how sturdy the ends are since they are elongated and dont have any support.

I stacked them ontop of each other otherwise the sides pull away from each other if set side by side and fall over!!

I stacked mine on top of each other but did alot of carving because I wasn't happy with the shape. I found it to be too flat. You can take a peek in my photos. I just tapered the ends more.
