My Uncle was recently told he only has less than 6mths to live and we are all getting together next weekend to have a big family gathering. I asked my Aunt if he had one thing that he would love to have that he can't eat what would it be? She said definitely Chinese food.
I would like to make some cookies that look like Chinese food and did a search but haven't been able to find anything. So, I thought I'd ask the CC community for some help. Do any of you have any ideas for some cookies? Thanks so much in advance for your help!!! icon_smile.gif

What about fortune cookies? Or do you want them to look like little take out boxes with chopstix in them? You can always find a picture of what you want and print it. Cut it out onto cardboard and make a template out of it.
So sorry about your Uncle.

I wouldn't mind doing fortune cookies but I'm trying to make them look more like food and I swear I have seen some cookies here on this site but I can't seem to find the one I am talking about. Thanks for the the help though & the kind words!!

Thanks for the photo - great inspiration for me and I think I'm going to look for some templates also.

Thanks again for all your help

I don't know why he can't have chinese food; but if it's because of grease, spices or MSG, it can be made at home without all of that junk - better too.
However if you want cookie ideas...
You could make little turnovers to look like dimsum... eggrolls can be stuffed with all sorts of things... small 1 inch cookie slices could become carrots... perhaps a penuche fudge could be shaped, pink-colored on the outside and sliced for BBQ pork...

A friend brought me some moon cake molds from China that I use for shortbread cookies. They're incredibly beautiful hand-carved molds. I'm not sure if this is something you want to make, but there are a couple of online stores that carry them. Here are pictures: http://www.alacuisine.org/photos/uncategorized/mooncake_mold.jpg

Sold here (I've never ordered from them):

Thanks again everyone! He can't have chinese because of the sodium he is on a very strict diet with practically no sodium, it will send him into cardiac failure. He is in denial right now that he's not going to be around much longer so he is following his diet to a tee! Hey, he's not going out without a fight and we're all very proud of him and we are all very blessed to have him in our lives. Thanks everyone for your advice and kind words. I will post a picture when finished.

honeydukes - love those molds!!! Thanks
