I am trying to do my first gumpaste project, a shoe. I mixed up the stuff for the GP last night, and attempted to work with it tonight. The texture of it seemed wrong to me when I started (really dry hard to knead, added a little veg. shortening to it to be able to work it). I got my shapes cut out for the shoe, and they started getting flaky and getting little cracks. I spend about an hour messing with it all then said forget it, I will check CC and find out what to do. I used the GP recipe that is on the Wilton products, 1 Tbsp Glucose, 1 Tbsp Gum-tex, 4 c powdered sugar, 4 tbsp water.

You don't use all the powdered sugar in the gumtex. They allow more to add later and I mix enough to make it not sticky.

Keep adding water to it gradually & kneading it until it becomes soft & stretchy icon_biggrin.gif
