Hi,
I haven't used this product before but a friend is asking if she can use it to write on the sides of a cake a day before a party. I assume it is regular buttercream icing or something from a can that she is using the ice the cake. I read that the fondant writer hardens up. Is this an appropriate use of the product? I can see using it on a cookie but what about the side of a cake? Also should it be used just before the party, or the day before or does it not matter.
Thanks

The food writers can be used when your icing is harder-it works on crusting buttercream if you are very careful, but will not work on canned icing. These are perfect for fondant or RI (like on cookies) because both of those mediums dry harder.
